Spain overwhelms Serbia and wins the bronze of the U-18 women’s Eurobasket

The Spanish under-18 women’s basketball team achieved this Sunday the third position of the Eurobasket of the category, played in the city of Konya (Turkey), thanks to its bulky 52-80 victory over the Serbian team in the consolation final .

Inés Sotelo from Galicia and Marina Mata from Aragon, both centers and with 14 points scored each, led the comfortable triumph of the players coached by Cristina Cantero on the Konya Sports Complex court.

Except for a 3-2 scoreline at the start of the match, Spain dominated the rest of the time on the scoreboard and clinched the bronze medal. He did it in an appointment that, in addition, helped him heal several injuries from his emphatic defeat against France (49-82) in the semifinals the previous day.

On the Serbian side, point guard Marija Avlijas was the one who stood out the most in offensive tasks against Spain. Her 25 points, despite everything, did not prevent the Balkan team from ending up falling and off the podium. The title will be disputed this Sunday (8:30 p.m.) by Slovenia and France.
