The Carabinieri of the Operations Unit of the Frascati Company, on delegation of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Juvenile Court of Rome, have implemented an application order of the precautionary measure of placement in the community – issued by the GIP of the Juvenile Court – against a 16 year old boy from Naplesseriously suspected of crime of fraud, impersonation, theft and robbery, all committed against elderly people. The facts date back to last March when a young man, posing as an employee of the Italian Post Office, scored four “hit”s, grabbing a haul of around 7,000 euros in cash and several tens of thousands of euros in gold jewellery. On one occasion the son of an elderly victim, after having caught the scammer in the act, tried in vain to block him, causing a compound fracture of his hand. The investigations by the Carabinieri made it possible to gather serious circumstantial elements against the minor and in relation to the fact that he used to reach the victims’ homes by taxi to evade checks by the police. The Carabinieri of the Operations Unit of the Frascati Company transported the sixteen-year-old to a community for minors in the province of Frosinone.

It should be noted that the proceeding is in the preliminary investigation phase, therefore the suspect is to be considered innocent until the final sentence is given.
