Robert Kara¶ reported everything on Sunday evening on his Instagram. “It was with great disbelief that I received the news from the organizer of the competition in Brazil that trace amounts of prohibited substances were detected in my body. The International Ultra Triathlon Association (IUTA) does not make such information public at this stage, but I have nothing to hide and I have decided I will inform you about everything myself,” Karaś began his statement.

IUTA is the federation that was responsible for organizing the May competition in Brazil, where Karaś broke the world record in the 10-time Ironman distance.
“I declare that I have never used any form of doping. Before the start in Brazil, I myself sought anti-doping tests from the organizers, because only in this way could my result be officially recognized as a world record. Throughout my career, I have always been clean, which was confirmed by the results many anti-doping tests that I carried out after each of my previous starts in the World Cup” – writes Karaś.
According to our information, Drostanolone was detected in Karaś. This is a specificity belonging to the group of anabolic-androgenic steroids, which is more useful in strength sports, not endurance sports. It is most often used to improve the figure – it is used by, for example, bodybuilders.
“I analyzed the whole situation with my staff and sports doctors. In January I treated fractures of the arm, ribs and foot. Then I was given drugs that contained substances on the WADA list. I have no influence on the preparations or the performance in Brazil. I am in constant contact with the IUTA federation. At the moment I am waiting for the result of the B sample test. However, regardless of these results and the final decision of the federation, I want to share my story. Let it be a cautionary tale other athletes to apply the principle of limited trust in expert opinions” – concludes Karaś, who also attached a short video to the statement.
At the end of May, Karaś completed a 10-time Ironman in Brazil. By the way, he broke the world record, because the distance of 38 kilometers of swimming, 1800 kilometers of cycling and 422 kilometers of running he covered with a time of 164 hours 14 minutes and 2 seconds. A few months earlier, he also fought a duel in combat sports. At the Fame MMA 17 gala, where in his debut – despite a knee injury – he defeated unanimously on points rapper and freestyler Filip “Filipek” Marcinek.
