Shaka Hislop: Test match between Milan and Madrid – expert collapses during TV broadcast

A brief moment of shock around former professional goalkeeper Shaka Hislop caused concern during a soccer test match. In his role as an expert, the 54-year-old collapsed briefly on Sunday evening in AC Milan’s friendly against Real Madrid in Pasadena – in front of the TV camera.

The broadcaster ESPN immediately switched to advertising in the situation, but later gave the all-clear for the former Trinidad & Tobago international goalkeeper.

“Shaka is conscious. Doctors are taking care of him,” moderator Dan Thomas wrote on Twitter a short time later. Thomas had stood next to Hislop in the scene before the game started. Halfway through the game, journalist Thomas went back on the air and repeated the content of his tweet on camera. He added that Hislop’s family had been informed that he was fine but it was “too early for a medical diagnosis”.

Hislop played in England for a long time during his playing days and also took part in the 2006 World Cup in Germany with Trinidad & Tobago. Real won the friendly against Milan 3-2 after trailing 2-0.
