Senasica inspects luggage to prevent pests from entering Mexico – El Sol de México

To reduce the risk of pests and diseases not present in Mexico entering the country and thereby protect agricultural and livestock production, the National Service for Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality (Senasica) reinforced the task of inspecting luggage and merchandise at 22 ports, 41 airports and 27 border points during this holiday season.

To do this, the officers have the support of 70 canine inspectors who check more than 10 bags per minute at the different points of entry into national territory.

At this beginning of the summer vacation, the Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) invited tourists who plan to visit Mexico and compatriots arriving from abroad to learn about the products of animal, vegetable, aquaculture, and fishery origin, which can enter and those that are not allowed.

Travelers interested in knowing the list of these products can access the official Senasica website.

Similarly, the agency urged travelers to join the actions to reduce the risk of entry into the national territory of African swine fever (ASF), which is present in more than 50 countries.

It is also reported that visitors entering the country with dogs or cats must have an animal health certificate.

For other animals such as ferrets, hamsters, canaries, nymphs and Australian parakeets, they must comply with the animal health requirements for each species indicated on their portal.
