Seiya Suzuki’s Four-Hit Game Leads Chicago Cubs to Dominant Victory over Washington Nationals

Seiya Suzuki made his first four-hit game this year to help the Chicago Cubs to a 17-3 win over the Washington Nationals.

Trailing 3-1 in the sixth, the sophomore Cub hit its eighth home run into the back row of the left-field bleachers at Chicago’s Wrigley Field. Chicago then tied the game and opened the scoring with a six-run seventh inning.

The Cubs’ Patrick Wisdom opened the seventh inning by hitting his 17th home run to give his team a 4-3 lead. When there was no goal and there were two forwards, Suzuki scored a single to make it 5-3 and then scored.

Suzuki, who had gone 2-for-17 in the days leading up to Tuesday’s game, made it 4-for-6 with another RBI single.

“Seiya was phenomenal tonight,” said Cubs manager David Ross, who then praised the work Suzuki did after the game in the batting cage to fine-tune his mechanics.

In Anaheim, Calif., Shohei Ohtani hit his MLB-record seventh triple and went 1-of-3 with a walk, run and fulcrum for the Los Angeles Angels in their win. 5-1 over the New York Yankees.
