Scandal at the UNFP, which refuses to reimburse former players

The UNFP is still entangled in the scandal of its commercial subsidiaries. In June, L’Équipe revealed that around thirty players, footballers and former internationals, as well as several coaches, including a member of the staff of the France team, were planning to file a complaint against the union, in particular for illegal exercise of the profession of broker. In question: financial investments which have been advised to them over the years by ESC, a commercial subsidiary of the UNFP now dissolved, and which have proved disastrous.

Players ask for several million euros

The players are demanding the reimbursement of several million euros, placing the UNFP in a very delicate situation. Indeed, the union has already had to spend millions of euros to cover the abysmal debts of its companies and close them (ESC for financial advice, ESA for insurance and ESM which exercised a player agent activity).

The UNFP, which has already happened in the past to reimburse its members part of the sums invested via ESC, ensures that it will not do so this time. And swears that it did not interfere in the activity of its subsidiaries. Understand, this problem is that of the wealth management advisors who worked for ESC, not his.
