Rudy Fernández has announced in the presentation of his campus that he will retire next year from the Spanish National Team. The experienced forward, captain of the national team and legend of Real Madrid, has confirmed his short-term plans, with the new contract almost signed at the white club and his idea of trying to reach the 2024 Olympic Games (in case Spain qualify, which is not yet, and he is fine).
These have been his words:
«It is my last World Cup for sure, since they are every four years. There are still many training sessions. My priority is to be one more year at Real Madrid, I still have to sign, it’s almost done, and it may be that I make it to the Olympic Games and that’s where my career in the Spanish team ends. I promised my father that the Olympic Games would be my last tournament.”
“I am very excited, very happy to be back in a call for the Spanish team at thirty-eight years old and that the coach continues to call me to be able to be in team dynamics and to be able to help the youngest in the minutes that I am”.
