Route and profile of the day’s stage: Libourne / Limoges

step

“The route will go crescendo, rather flat towards Libourne and more and more hilly as we get closer to Limoges, with “breakthrough” roads. It’s the 8th stage and still no rest day: we will have to deal with fatigue. On paper, the victory is cut for a sprinter who passes the bumps well. But this profile could also smile at a breakaway that resists the peloton. Some riders will also want to put their whole team to good use, so the odds are evenly divided. What is certain is that this day is not for the leaders, because it is difficult to get away with it. The objective of the favorites will be to save energy for the next day, one of the queen stages of the tour, with a finish at the puy de dome. »

The bike map

“Leaving from Libourne, it’s nice to drive through the vineyards near Saint-Émilion and discover the village. It’s quite bucolic. »

The story

“I wanted to start cycling by seeing my father doing amateur races near Coutras, where I accompanied him on location scouting. I also did one of my first races there: that day, the winner gave us all a lap. (Laughs.)”
