Rockets Rookie Cam Whitmore Dominates Las Vegas Summer League, Named MVP and Best Team Selection

NBA – The Rockets rookie adds his name to the Las Vegas Summer League MVP list, in addition to being named to the competition’s best team.

First revenge for Cam Whitmore. Selected late in the last Draft (20th choice), when he was expected in the Top 10 (even downright in the Top 5 by some), the rookie of Rockets has actually just been named MVP of the Summer League of Las Vegas, succeeding Keegan Murray at the same time.

A few hours before his final against the Cavs, the former Villanova indeed shone, with 20.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.2 assists on average (at 47% in shooting, including 29% at 3-pointers, and 63% in free throws).

Unsurprisingly, the 19-year-old winger, considered a potential steal in the 2023 Draft, also earns a spot in the competition’s best five. Cam Whitmore is accompanied by Keyonte George

(Jazz), Sam Merrill (Cavaliers), Hunter Tyson (Nuggets) et Orlando Robinson (Heat).

The “All-Summer League Second Team” is made up of… six players, due to a tie between Max Christie (Lakers) et Xavier Moon (Clippers). The other four names on it? Emoni Bates (Cavaliers), Jabari Smith Jr. (Rockets), Javon Freeman-Liberty (Bulls) et Jalen Wilson (Nets).
