Tennis talent Noma Noha Akugue celebrated her first win on the WTA tour at her home game at Rothenbaum in Hamburg. The 19-year-old, who competes in the Hanseatic city with a wild card, beat Brazilian Laura Pigossi 7-5, 6-4 on Monday.
In the round of 16, the 2020 German champion will meet Donna Vekic (Croatia/No. 1) or the Australian Storm Hunter.
The day before, Tamara Korpatsch had already reached the round of 16 with a 3:6, 6:2, 6:1 against Maria Carle from Argentina. In addition to Korpatsch and Noha Akugue, Jule Niemeier, Eva Lys and Ella Seidel will also serve at Rothenbaum from a German perspective.
