Record Participation in Alcoy’s ‘Jocs Esportius’ Season 22/23

A few weeks ago the season 22/23 of the ‘Jocs Esportius’ concluded in our city. The Lightning Trophy in the children’s and cadet football 11 categories was the last competition on June 18.

A week before, on June 9, 10 and 11, the last matches and competitions were played for the rest of the modalities and categories and the season’s trophies were also delivered in ‘Esport in 3D’. A whole party for athletes and family.

The data from this call once again show an increase in participation that increases every year. A total of 2,127 athletes participated in the different modalities. 563 girls for 1,564 boys. An important fact that slightly improves the percentage of the previous season, being 26.4% girls by 73.6% boys compared to 25% – 75% of the previous year.

The team modalities have been: Volleyball – 11 teams. Basketball – 22 teams. Futsal – 51 teams. Soccer 11 – 18 teams. Soccer 8 – 15 teams.

Other individual modalities with important participation in the call have been judo, rhythmic gymnastics, orienteering, cycling and athletics.

One of the great novelties of this season has been the Endurance Sport League project, which with a total of 10 tests have brought individual resistance sports such as climbing, cross country, orienteering, swimming, duathlon… to the little ones in very fun days who have filled the annual calendar and the school sports facilities.

“For the Center d’Esports, the intermunicipal phase of the ‘Jocs Esportius’ constitutes the fundamental pillar as the incorporation through sport of the formative and constructive values ​​of the personality of childhood. With these ‘Jocs’ we intend to stimulate and promote sports participation of all boys and girls of school age, with the aim of which we try to offer a wide range of sports modalities that allows us to satisfy the preferences of the vast majority”, highlighted the Councilor for Sports, Alberto Belda, who explains that: “Through In this inter-municipal phase, a greater bond of friendship and communication is created between the different groups, entities and associations that make up the broad social spectrum of the city”.

In addition to Alcoy, towns such as Cocentaina, Bañeres, Ibi, Onil, Castalla, Albaida, Muro and Ontinyent have participated.
