Quebec and Ottawa to Invest Nearly $1 Million in Sports Infrastructure in Saint-Denis-de-Brompton

The governments of Quebec and Ottawa are jointly investing nearly $1 million in sports infrastructure in Saint-Denis-de-Brompton. This investment will make it possible to renovate and improve the equipment at Desjardins Park.

The various government authorities thus wish to encourage citizens to adopt a healthier and more active lifestyle.

Investing in sports and recreational health is extremely important. We still remember that we had a very severe pandemic, and playing sports, doing recreational activities, it still helps a lot for mental health at any age, underlines the deputy for Richmond, André Bachand.

The tennis and pickleball courts, among other things, will soon benefit from a makeover, with new nets and better lighting. Stands will be set up for the baseball field. A covered outdoor multisport area will also be annexed to the sports center. These changes are necessary and eagerly awaited, underlined the mayor of Saint-Denis-de-Brompton, Daniel Veilleux.

The baseball diamond is used almost every day, the tennis court is used either as tennis or as pickleball, and the playground is desired by the citizens to be able to hold activities, but also to be able to serve as kind of sun shelter, he points out.

Desjardins Park is a park that is in demand and very used by our day camp youth, our young families and elementary school students.

The works will begin in 2024 and will be spread over a period of three years.
