This season the ATP Challenger Tour lands on Porto to hold a 125 category event, the second most important in the division, which will take place between July 31 and August 6 at the Monte Aventino Sports Complex. The Portuguese tournament celebrates its third consecutive edition in the men’s annual calendar, having the Turkish Altug Celikbilek as champion of the first two editions.
French players Quentin Halys and Benjamin Bonzi they are the top seeds of the hard court event in Portugal. The No. 66 in the world needs points that will settle him in the Top 100, since in the tournaments of the big circuit it has been difficult for him to reach decisive instances. This year he became champion of the Challenger de Blois and reached the semifinals of the ATP in Estoril and the Challenger in Phoenix. On his side, currently ranked at No. 107, he started the season in the Top 50 and with tennis that he promised. Although he reached the ATP 250 finals in Pune and Marseille, he racked up five straight losses in his last appearances, four of them coming in the first rounds.
