Peruvian Flag Soars High at Welcome Ceremony for V South American Games Santa Marta 2023

The Peruvian flag flew in style on El Rodadero beach, at the welcoming ceremony for the national delegations and the raising of flags, prior to the start of the V South American Games Santa Marta 2023 that will take place today in Colombia.

These South American Games take place from July 14 to 21 of this year. The athletes have a grant from the Peruvian Sports Institute and also belong to the Athlete Support Program.

Present at the flag-raising ceremony at Rodadero Beach were the president of the Peruvian Olympic Committee, Dr. Renzo Manyari Velazco, the general secretary of the COP, Jenny Martínez, the chief of mission Andrés Goya, the deputy chief of mission Diego Zegarra and the national athletes present.

The Men’s Handball team plays this Friday the 14th at 2:00 p.m. against Chile. On Saturday we played against Brazil at 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday our team faces Colombia at 10:00 a.m. and that same day at 3:00 p.m. against Argentina. These matches will take place at the El Rodadero Multisports Park.

Of the 14 sports disciplines in the Santa Marta competitions, our country will compete in nine (9): underwater activities, beach handball, open water swimming, beach sprint rowing, skateboarding, surfing, sailing, wrestling, and beach volleyball.

Pool Ambrosio and Nathaly Herrera in beach wrestling begin actions on July 15 in the 70 kg and 50 kg categories respectively. In both cases, the qualifying matches start at 2:00 p.m. Likewise, the Open Water, Surfing, Sailing and Beach Handball teams are already training in Santa Marta for the next competitions according to the calendar established by the organization.

The South American Games of Playa Santa Marta 2023 have the endorsement of the South American Sports Organization that integrates the following countries: Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Curacao, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
