Peru Sets Record with 47 Para-Athletes Qualifying for Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games

A total of 47 national para-athletes secured their qualification to the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, which will take place from November 17 to 26 in the Chilean capital.

The announcement was made by National Paralympic Association of Peru (ANPPERÚ) after a first detailed evaluation of the classification processes.

When the names of those classified in other disciplines such as paraathletics, paraswimming or parapowerlifting, The 47 official qualifiers already constitute a record number of para-athletes, who will be sent in an official delegation to a Parapan American event. far surpassing the 28 that participated in Guadalajara 2011 and the 15 that attended Toronto 2015.

In Lima 2019, as hosts and with guaranteed classification in all sports, the Peruvian delegation competed with 138 athletes with disabilities.

For Santiago 2023, Peru will have a presence in women’s goalball, soccer for the blind, parataekwondo, paraarchery, paracycling, boccia, parabadminton, and judo.

The ANPPERÚ continues to make efforts to achieve a greater number of classifieds, and thus continue generating change in people with disabilities, linked to highly competitive sports.

Those classified for next November’s event in Santiago de Chile (ordered according to how they classified) are:

1-6 Women’s goalball team (the list of the 6 will be defined in September)

7-16 Men’s soccer team for the blind (the nominal relationship will be defined at the end of September)
