Outstanding Performance by Youth Athletes from Baja California in Judo and Taekwondo at Conade 2023 National Games

Youth athletes from Baja California had an outstanding participation in the closing of the Judo and Taekwondo days in the Conade 2023 National Games fair. The 29th state delegation won 12 medals in Judo; three gold, two silver and seven bronze.

After three days of intense competition in Tabasco, the delegation led by Josan Fajer returned home with 12 Judo medals. Baja California had as national champions Nohelia Hinojosa in the -58 kilogram modality, Sub 15 category, César Villavicencio in -90, Sub 18 and Saúl Higareda in -90, Sub 21.

On the other hand, the national runners-up are Vania Madera in modality -53 kilograms, Sub 15 and Miriam Silva in -57, Sub 18.

Finally, the bronze medalists are Alan Vázquez and Diego Pavón in the Under 15 category; Valentina Cotry, Valeria Nieto, Julio Ávila and Kenay Vargas in Sub 18 and Ramón Ríos, in Sub 21.

TAEKWONDO

Baja California finished its participation in the 2023 Conade National Taekwondo, with the bronze medal in the Women’s Under 21 Team to close with a total of 17 metals.

In the last day that took place at the Convention Center, Baja California and the State of Mexico disputed the pass to the final in the Women’s Sub 21, despite the efforts of the young women, the victory was achieved by the representative from Mexico .

The 29th state team was made up of Alexandra Rivera, Fernanda Valenzuela, Bertha Páez, Ingrid Almada and Samantha Pelayo, who had Alfonso Márquez and Juan Vera as coaches.

With this metal, Baja California has finished with three gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals for a total of 17 medals.

IN CENTRAL AMERICAN KARATE

With the aim of facing the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in optimal conditions, the talented karate fighter from Ensenada, José Armando Luque Sánchez, is in the Mexican Olympic Committee concentrating with the National Karate Do Team, while carrying out his last training sessions to fight for medals in the Caribbean joust.

The weigh-in for the athlete from Buenos Aires who competes in the -60 kilogram category will take place on July 5 and activities will start on the 6th of the same month at the “Carlos El Famoso Hernández” National Sports Palace in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The Baja Californian athlete qualified for the 2023 Central American Games after making an excellent participation in the Central American and Qualifying Championship, which took place in Oaxtepec, Morelos and where he achieved zero points against.
