Osasuna will finally play the 2023-2024 Conference League. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) has accepted the evidence provided by the Navarrese club to suspend the sanction imposed by UEFA for match-fixing in the 2013-2014 season and Osasuna will be in the draw for the third European competition to be held on August 7.
After the resolution of the CAS, UEFA has considered that “Osasuna was a victim of the events that occurred almost a decade ago and has valued the initiative carried out by the institution to clarify them,” according to what the rojilla entity highlighted on Tuesday, which denounced the purchase of matches in court.
“UEFA’s decision and the ratification of the TAS put an end, both in the ordinary courts and in sports justice, to the fight that the entity has maintained during the last two months in defense of its rights and those of its members,” added Osasuna.
The highest European body, however, has opened a file on the club chaired by Luis Sabalza for going to ordinary justice in the process that led him to be excluded from the Conference League.
