Noah Atubolu Extends Contract with SC Freiburg and Sets Sights on Goalkeeping Role

Under-21 goalkeeper Noah Atubolu has extended his contract with Bundesliga club SC Freiburg. The Breisgauer announced this on Thursday, as usual without giving details of the contract content. After the departure of Mark Flekken, Atubolu, who was born in Freiburg, will compete with returnee Florian Müller for a place in the SC goal next season.

“Noah worked his way up to this point step by step in order to take the next step. Quality, willingness to perform and self-confidence are there. A bit of luck is also needed now,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. Atubolu described himself as “a Freiburg boy through and through” and emphasized: “I want more.”

Atubolu came to the Freiburg football school in 2015, and from the U14 he had gone through all the club’s youth teams. With the professionals, the 21-year-old has made three appearances in the DFB Cup and in the Europa League.
