End of career for Malik Jackson

Malik Jackson (DT), 33, announced the end of his career. Jackson played ten seasons in the NFL but did not have a team for the 2022 season. He spoke on NFL.com :

“That was the goal. Ten or twelve years of career were my objective. I was able to get to a point where I was still playing well. I was doing pretty well, for me. I’ve done enough. I have a daughter, and I need to come home and be with her and start living. »

Jackson was drafted by the Broncos where he spent four years. He is an integral part of the 2015 defense that won the Superbowl. At the end of his four rookie years, he signed a six-year, $85.5 million contract with the Jaguars. In 2019, the Jaguars released him and he signed with the Eagles. After two seasons in Pennsylvania, he played his final season in Cleveland in 2021.

The record of his career is 142 games played for 292 tackles including 63 for losses. He completed 35.3 sacks and 29 passes defended.

Aaron Rodgers is ‘thrilled’ to participate in ‘Hard Knocks’

ESPN announced last Wednesday that it has chosen the Jets for its Hard Knocks series. During an interview for the television channel KPIXduring a golf tournament, Aaron Rodgers (QB, Jets) commented on this choice:

“I understand the interest for us, obviously. There are a lot of eyes on me, on our franchise and a lot of expectations on our team. They forced our hand, so we’ll go with it.”

We can say that the quarterback is on the same line as his trainer. A few weeks ago Robert Saleh had expressed his wish not to be chosen by ESPN.

Bengals restructure Joe Mixon’s contract

ESPN announced this weekend the restructuring of the contract of Joe Mixon (RB, Bengals). Prior to this deal, the running back’s base salary was $9.4 million. According Pro Football Talk, the base salary for 2023 would be $6 million. Additional bonuses would increase the player’s salary by up to $8 million.

The player’s agent told NFL Media :

“Joe has just validated the restructuring of his contract. His goal is to win the Super Bowl and make his career in Cincinnati and that’s the best way to accomplish both of those goals. »

This agreement allows the Bengals to consolidate their number 1 running back and free up some payroll for the coming season.

John Elway loves Sean Payton at the Broncos

The legend of the Broncos John Elway think that Sean Payton (HC) matches the Broncos perfectly.

Last season, the duo Nathaniel Hackett et Russel Wilson (QB, Broncos) didn’t quite live up to expectations. The management of the franchise then favored the quarterback at the expense of the young coach.

This July 13, John Elway spoke on the television channel ABC 7 in Denver :

” I’m eager to. It fits perfectly with the current situation, where the Broncos are now. Obviously, he has a lot of trophies on the wall. He’s won a Super Bowl and a ton of football games. I don’t think there could be anyone who fits better. I think it’s going to be awesome. Sean is very good with the quarterback position. He has very good knowledge of the offensive side. I think he knows how Wilson will be the best. »

Can Broncos fans dream of a remake of the Saints duo Payton-Brees?

– After undergoing knee arthroscopy during the offseason, Tariq Woolen (CB, Seahawks)is on the right track. Woolen posted a video of himself sprinting on social media. He wrote: “My knee is fine. “. Pete Carroll hopes to see his player on the field for the start of training camps.

Joe Campbell (OF) died at the age of 68. He played from 1977 to 1981. He was drafted by the Saints and won the Superbowl with the Raiders. His brother told the Delaware News Journal that Joe Campbell was found dead after a hike. According to the first findings, he would have died of a heart attack.
