Myles Turner Optimistic about Pacers’ Defensive Boost with New Acquisitions

Myles Turner does not hide his satisfaction. The Pacers center, who closed a two-year, $60 million contract extension in January, believes the organization has done really well in the market. It is true that great stars have not arrived, but pieces that can boost a defense that was the 26th worst in the NBA last year.

“I feel like with our moves, we’re really going to see a boost in our defense. It’s something we struggled with last year and now we have people who are in the right mindset in that realm like Obi, Bruce and Jarace. You have to have that bravery in your wardrobe, so I’m looking forward to putting it into practice,” he tells Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files.

In his analysis, the center from Indiana made it clear that he has controlled Jarace Walker, the rookie that the Indianapolis chose in the number 8 position of the 2023 draft.

“It’s been a while since I saw him for the first time. I watched him a bit in the (NCAA) tournament, but seeing him in this new setting is very interesting to see how he’ll fit in. I think he can be a Thaddeus Young-style player. I’m excited for his future. I think he will be able to prosper in this league », he warns.

¿Y Bruce Brown?

Finally, he also had words for Bruce Brown, whom he sees as a fantastic acquisition after showing in Denver that he can be an important part of a champion team.

“I loved everything, man. Bruce Brown was one of the guys I ran into when he was in Brooklyn. He was playing ‘five’ and I was like… ‘Who the hell is this guy?’ I’ve never heard of him before and he’s playing down there. Then on the next team I saw him as a ‘one’ and a ‘three’… and you already saw the role he played in Denver in their championship run. Having that experience in the locker room is second to none for us,” he concludes.
