Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was driving 140 mph (225 km/h) last week when he was pulled over by police.
He defended himself by saying there was a “canine emergency” at his home, ESPN reported on Monday.
He was charged with speeding and reckless driving by the Minnesota State Police.
“Addison said his dog had an emergency at his residence and that was the reason for his speed,” she said.

Last Thursday, around 3 a.m., Addison was arrested driving his Lamborghini Urus while traveling “at an extremely high speed” of 140 mph in a 55 mph zone (about 90 km / h). It therefore exceeded the permitted limit by more than twice.
The 21-year-old athlete, chosen 23rd overall in the last draft, apologized the next day for his “error” and his “lack of judgment”. He promised that such behavior would not happen again. He did not, however, give details about the “emergency” with his dog.
