Even though it hasn’t been officially implemented yet, the Youth and Sports Office of East Java Province supports Dito’s plan. “We welcome the policy of the Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo who instructed gymnastics as a mandatory sport in schools,” said the Head of the East Java Youth and Sport Agency, M Ali Kuncoro.

According to Ali, this policy is in line with the tagline of East Java Seger or East Java Seneng Motion which is a program of East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa. Moreover, gymnastics has many benefits for the health of the body, including training and improving children’s cognitive abilities.

Exercise can also improve the health of bones and organs and train motor skills. “Gymnastics can also improve body coordination, agility and maintain balance,” said Ali.

Ali also considered gymnastics to play an important role in all sports. “Therefore, gymnastics should be intensified in schools filled with the younger generation,” he said, hoping that by making gymnastics compulsory in schools, the number of athletes in schools would grow.
