Mexico continues with its preparation for the Basketball World Cup 2023 to be held from August 25 to September 10. After returning with the silver medal from San Salvador 2023Coach Omar Quintero announced the farewell tour that the team will hold throughout the country in order to refine details towards their goal.
Los 12 warriors will face Cuba in a three game series. The first stop will be the July 14 in Puebla, where the 21 shortlisted are already concentrated. The second comparison will be five days later, on July 19 in southern Mexico, in Meridaand finally the Mexican team will travel to Torreon, Coahuila, on July 22.
The other two games to play will be against a South American rival, Colombia, and are planned for July 26 in City Juarez Chihuahua (one of the states where several women’s and men’s basketball selection events have been held) and the tour will close on Saturday, July 29, at the Juan de la Barrera Gymnasium in Mexico City: “The farewell game that we wanted so much for the people and our players”commented the coach Omar Quintero.

When will the official Mexico squad for the 2023 Basketball World Cup be announced?
Of the group of 20 shortlisted that will be part of the farewell tour in Mexicoonly 14 will be chosen prior to the Basketball World Cup 2023. “July 29after the last game against Colombia, the final list of those traveling will be given and everyone will have the same opportunities to show who can help the National Team in the World Cup” advanced the director of National Teams, Omar Quintero.

At the end of the tour in Mexico, the basketball team will travel to Jordan team they will face in the Kings Cup, same as Angola y Portugal. Finally, they will go to Abu Dhabi where they will play another tournament and teams from Egypt, Lebanon, USA, Greece y Germany.
