Mexican hitters were in the most explosive mode in Major League Baseball. Culiacanense Joey Meneses hit a home run for the third consecutive day, two on Friday, one on Saturday and another yesterday for his team, the Washington Nationals, to beat the Texas Rangers 7-2.

Meneses has been third or fourth in the batting order for Washington after hitting 13 homers in 56 games last season. But he had just two in his first 80 games this season until he woke up this weekend. This is the second time in his career that Meneses has homered in three straight games.

Isaac Paredes from Sonora hit his 16th homer of the season as the Tampa Bay Rays ended a seven-game losing streak with a 10-4 win over the Atlanta Braves in a duel between the teams with the best records in the Gandes Leagues.

The popular Randy Arozarena went 2-3 with two runs scored and a dance duel included with one of the Tampa team workers.

Ramón Urías from Sonora broke the tie with a two-run homer in the Orioles’ 15-2 rout of the Minnesota Twins. It’s the second time in four games that Baltimore has scored at least 14 runs. They did it Thursday against the Yankees in the last of their series.

Alek Thomas, a Mexican selected in the World Classic due to his dual nationality, hit a home run for the second consecutive game with the Diamondbacks, who, however, lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2.

Meanwhile, hitting coach Dillon Lawson was fired by the New York Yankees following a 7-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs, a rare midseason turnaround for a franchise that has prized stability since its inception. Hal Steinbrenner took over as owner after his father’s death.

New York, with its .231 average, is 28th among the 30 teams in the Major Leagues, ahead of Detroit and Oakland. The Yankees are hitting the worst .218 average in 31 games since Aaron Judge suffered a torn ACL in his right big toe on June 3, entering the All-Star break with a 14-17 mark. , ranking fourth in the AL East with a 49-42 record.
