Mexican Para Badminton Team Announced for Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games

The Mexican Paralympic Committee (COPAME) has officially announced the national para badminton team, and among the outstanding athletes who will represent Mexico at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games is Gerardo Armando Castillo Silos from Potosi.

The sporting event of the Parapan American Games will take place from November 17 to 26, and the para badminton will take place from November 22 to 26. This is the second time that this discipline is part of the Parapan American Games program, after its debut in Lima 2019.

In the men’s individual category, Mexico will be represented by three talented players: Alfonso Quevedo Díaz (WH 1), Ángel Gabriel Gómez Vázquez (SL 3) and the charismatic “Jerry”, Gerardo Armando Castillo Silos (SH 6). In addition, in the men’s doubles category, Joaquín Isaac Palma Piñeiro and Arturo Zambrano Alejo will demonstrate their ability and dexterity on the court.

In the modality of mixed doubles, Maximiliano Ávila Sosa and María Guadalupe Rojas Pérez will form an unbeatable couple that will seek to raise the name of Mexico in the continental fair.

COPAME, headed by its president Liliana Suárez Carreón, thanked the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE) for its support and collaboration in making this dream of taking para badminton athletes to the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games come true.
