Philadelphia

Mauricio Pochettino insists Chelsea will not let Levi Colwill go. Chelsea are preparing to launch Colwill who according to Pochettino is the candidate for England’s best defender.

Chelsea won 4-3 over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League Summer Series pre-season tournament at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Sunday (23/7/2023) morning WIB. Brighton went ahead through Danny Welbeck.

The Blues then recovered to score four goals through Christopher Nkunku, Mykhailo Mudryk, Conor Gallagher and Nicolas Jackson. The Seaguls tried to catch up but could only score two additional goals from penalties by Joao Pedro and Deniz Undav.

In this match, the Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, played Levi Colwill from the early minutes. Colwill last season was loaned out to Brighton.

Brighton are also reportedly looking to sign Colwill on a permanent basis. Brighton is said to be exploring opportunities to become Colwill part of Moises Caicedo’s transfer to Chelsea. Caicedo is widely rumored to be the main target for The Blue.

However, Pochettino doesn’t seem to let Colwill go. He is determined to defend Colwill.

The man from Argentina believes Colwill will become one of the best defenders in England. Colwill does have great potential.

Last season, he made 17 appearances for Brighton in the Premier League with two assists. Colwill also helped the England U-21 national team win the 2023 European Under-21 Cup.

“I’m happy with him, his performances are good. Better than I expected because this is one of the first games he’s had. I think he can become one of the greatest centre-backs in England,” Pochettino said as quoted by Metro.

“It’s clear what the situation is, and there is nothing to say. He is our player and we are happy with him and he will be part of our team,” he explained.
