On Saturday, BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl reacted defensively as usual on the sidelines of the Dortmund test match at Rot-Weiss Erfurt (2-1). When asked about a possible candidate Marcel Sabitzer, the 43-year-old replied in a very general way: “If I now think about what has been written in the last few days and weeks, how many players have already signed with us, then I would simply ask you not to comment on it now, nor to give any stand to any talks.”

But on Sunday, precisely these talks picked up speed. The result: Sabitzer has committed to BVB and would like to switch to Dortmund. This was the result of kicker research, which coincided with other media reports. However, the clubs still have to agree. A transfer fee of between 15 and 20 million euros seems realistic. Most recently, Sabitzer had reportedly tended to move towards England.

FC Bayern will probably not put any big obstacles in the way of their players. The Austrian came to Munich two years ago with his coach Julian Nagelsmann, but was loaned to Manchester United for the past six months. In the central midfield, the record champion is already well occupied. A quick agreement is therefore possible, but the time until the departure of the Dortmund convoy to the USA on early Monday is running out.

At BVB, the 29-year-old could help close Jude Bellingham’s gap. The Briton was known to have switched to Real Madrid, and Mahmoud Dahoud also left the club. After the transfer of Felix Nmecha and Sabitzer, the two positions at BVB would be filled again.
