Löwen’s Pre-season Preparations and Season Opener Highlighted with ALBA BERLIN Friendly

From mid-August things will really get going again: That’s when our lions start their pre-season preparations, which currently include seven friendlies. Above all, the fans should mark September 10th in their calendars: That is when the Löwen hold their season opener in the Volkswagen Halle and meet the German top team and the Euroleague participants ALBA BERLIN in the only public test match in Braunschweig.

But before that happens, Löwen head coach Jesús Ramírez will call his team together on August 11 for the official start of training. After the first week of preparation, the newly formed Löwen will play their first test match and meet the opponents who open the season, EWE Baskets Oldenburg, before a test match against their next BBL competitor, Veolia Towers Hamburg, at the end of the month.

Five more preparatory games are planned for September, the highlight of which for the Löwen and their fans will be the public friendly against ALBA BERLIN in the Volkswagen Halle at home. A supporting program with player presentation and autograph session rounds off this event, for which further information (ticket sales, start etc.) will follow at a later date.

If you can’t keep this date, you have two more chances to see the lions in September – albeit away from home. They will start at a tournament at the beginning of the month (further information will follow after the host club has announced it) and at the end of their preparation at the REWE Family Day 2023 from Phoenix Hagen they will meet the Dutch club ZZ Leiden, which celebrated winning the title in the national league and in the BNXT League as well as the cup in the 2022/23 season. In between, the Ramírez team will play another test match against BG Göttingen, which, like the two test matches in August in Oldenburg and against Hamburg, will take place behind closed doors.
