Lions Club of the 8th Secures Promotion to Top Division in National Archery Final

The national final of the Regional Divisions which was held in Saint-Avertin (37), ended in fireworks for the men’s compound bow team of the Lions club of the 8th. This brand new team of archers, who were playing their first season there, went through all the stages before savoring this accession to the top division.

At the end of the qualifying shot, the Lyonnais are ranked in 6th place out of 21 with 2030 points out of a possible 2160. A performance that opens the doors to the final stages, with a first meeting in the eighth which pits them against the Carquefou club. A first knockout match won by the lions (220-213).

In the quarter-finals, the Lions served as outsiders against a Nice team which ranked 3rd in the qualifying shot. The favorites give the Lyonnais a hard time who finally win (221-211). Alas, the step was too high and the opponent of too high quality during the semi-finals. The Lions lost slightly to the future champion of France, Mont-Saint-Aignan (219-215).

But this defeat in the semi-finals gives a glimpse of the hope of a promotion to D1 with the small final. It opposes the club of Lyon to that of Valenciennes which leaves favorite with a leading position at the end of the qualifying shot. Nevertheless, the Lions manage to roar in the final end while still trailing. Between two gusts of wind, the Lyon archers scored an exceptional total of 58 points out of 60 points and validated their accession at the end of the suspense.
