Liechtenstein’s Success at the 21st International Judo Tournament: Gabriel Zeller Takes Home Bronze

The weekend of July 8th and 9th, 2023 was all about the 21st International Judo Tournament in the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen. Liechtenstein started with eight judokas.

The youngest started – Nik Foser -46 kg started in the U15 category. Things didn’t go according to plan for Nik, he had to admit defeat early on.

Gabriel Zeller, Manuel Bicker and Gabriel Meier started in the U18 age group. Gabriel Zeller in the -43 kg class won the great 3rd place. Manuel Bicker won the first fight in the -66 kg category, but lost in the next fight and was eliminated early. Gabriel lost in the first fight in the -73 kg class and was eliminated early.

Manuel Tischhauser, Manuel Bicker and Lea Wyss were registered for the juniors -U21. Manuel Tischhauser -60 kg ranked with 3 won fights and 2 defeats on the good but thankless 5th place. Manuel Bicker – 66 kg fought again without luck and retired. Lea Wyss -57 kg only had to admit defeat in the final to Mirthe van Kerkhof from the Netherlands and was able to receive the silver medal.

Manuel Tischhauser, Tristan Frei and Dario Alfonso competed in the Elite category. Manuel was able to fight for 5th place again. Tristan -66 kg lost in the repechage and Dario lost in the first round.
