“When I retired it was a very tough time, but I was dealing with a lot of physical pain. There were just multiple parts of my body that really made it difficult for me to compete the way I wanted to, but it was also very emotionally challenging, very mentally challenging, I felt like I had to stop playing immediately.”
Did you have it planned?
“When I retired I didn’t know if I was ever going to play again or not, I really had no idea. Most of last season I didn’t plan on doing it again at all until a couple of months ago I started to reflect on it again, so I’m really going to really enjoy being out there again.”
Ready for the challenge
“Right now my body is much better than it has been in recent months, plus what I’m doing with the ball in training has also been really exciting for me, it made me want to challenge myself again. I didn’t know if I could have this opportunity again, but fortunately in Newport they wanted to give me this invitation. All I wanted was to get out there and play again.”
