Katerina Siniakova wins tennis tournament in Bad Homburg

Tennis professional Katerina Siniakova won the fourth individual title of her career on the WTA tour at the tournament in Bad Homburg. The world rankings-52. from the Czech Republic prevailed against the Italian Lucia Bronzetti 6:2, 7:6 (7:5) in the final on Saturday, the doubles specialist defied an almost three-hour rain break.

After winning the title, Siniakova will move up to 32nd in the world rankings on Monday. In the double ranking she is in first place.

The 27-year-old is now heading to the Grand Slam at Wimbledon, where she won the doubles title last year, with great confidence. In the singles on Monday, Siniakova meets Zheng Qinwen from China, who is 24th.

Siniakova had reached the final in Bad Homburg against Emma Navarro from the USA. Bronzetti reached the final without a fight after world number one Iga Swiatek withdrew due to illness. The Pole is still worried about her participation in the lawn classic in London.
