Katame Waza Clinic Focuses on Chokes and Levers in Judo Training

With the Jushinkan dojo in Coatzacoalcos as its headquarters, the Municipal Judo League for Everyone held the “Katame Waza” clinic, sensei Froilán Mejía from Xalapa, was in charge of directing the approximately 5-hour session that brought together 20 students and 7 coaches local and Minatitlán, training where aspects such as chokeholds and levers were addressed.

“They invited me and I kindly agreed to do a katame waza clinic, which are control techniques that include osaekomi waza, shime waza, and kansetsu waza, which are immobilizations, strangulations, and levers; More than anything, it is a sample of what they could do, as I mentioned to you, all their teachers already know it, sometimes simply like the news that someone comes and presents you with a variant will always be striking for them» he added.

Gerardo Robledo, president of the organizing group, mentioned that this was done with the intention of contributing to the development of the area’s exponents who will face national tournaments in future dates.

“This clinic was done because it is the continuation of the first one we did of tachi waza, now we continue with the katame waza clinic, which is work on the ground and following up on the work for future national events that we have on the horizon, the next The national event that we have is in Querétaro and for that we are preparing from now on,” he said.

The workshop was endorsed by the Association of Judokas of the State of Veracruz.
