Juventus beat AC Milan in friendly match, Giroud goalscorer

Juventus Turin beat AC Milan on penalties (2-2, 4-3 tab) after a pre-season friendly in Carson, California, on Thursday night to Friday. The two Serie A giants offered an interesting hour of play at Dignity Health Sports Park, the home of the Los Angeles Galaxy (MLS), before the traditional massive end-of-game substitutions.

The young German central defender Malick Thiaw (21), gave Milan the advantage in the 23rd minute, rising in the box on a free kick taken by Théo Hernandez. Juve replied by Danilo (33rd) after a mess on a corner rejected by Mike Maignan.

Giroud launches his season

Six minutes later Milan regained the advantage, again from a corner, by Olivier Giroud with a volley… before the equalizer signed by Federico Chiesa on a free kick in the area, slightly deflected by the Turin defender Daniele Rugani , then, involuntarily, from the head by Giroud (48th). Until now, the French striker had only played a few minutes in the last friendly match of the Milanese and the defeat against Real Madrid (2-3).

Part of the ‘Soccer Champions Tour’ summer match between Juve and Milan was then decided by a penalty shoot-out, with Juve substitute goalkeeper Carlo Pinsoglio stopping three Milan attempts to ensure victory for the team coached by Massimiliano Allegri. Next meetings of the American tour: Milan will face Barcelona in Las Vegas on Tuesday and Juve against Real Madrid, Manchester United scorer (2-0) in Orlando on Wednesday.
