Embiid said he “loves the challenge” of competing against other NBA MVP contenders.
At this point, he doesn’t seem to have any control over the identity of his 76ers co-star in 2023-24.
Embiid was paired with Ben Simmons and James Harden, with the clear goal of taking Philly to the Championship Series.
Simmons was traded for Harden, who returned last year, before asking the 76ers to trade him before the start of the next campaign.
According to ESPN, Harden has expressed a desire to go play for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Last month, Embiid said he was “hopeful” that Harden would change his mind.
In 2021, the Cameroonian pivot initialed a four-year extension valued at US$213 million, which will conclude at the end of the 2026-2017 calendar. He therefore pockets more than $52 million annually.
