This is the biggest contract in NBA history, much larger than the lease signed last year by two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, the pivot of the Denver Nuggets, for an amount of 264 million dollars, or 239 M EUR.

The 26-year-old two-time All Star has been a mainstay of the Celtics’ success in recent years, helping the team reach the playoffs seven seasons in a row.

Brown’s new contract guarantees him to stay in Boston until the end of the 2028-2029 season.

This extension obtained after several weeks of negotiations comes when Brown had one year left of his current contract, which will earn him 31.8 million dollars (28.8 M EUR) for the 2023-2024 season.

In 2022-23, Brown averaged career-best 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, forming a feared offensive duo with Jayson Tatum.

However, despite their production on the floor, the NBA finalist Celtics the previous season saw their campaign come to an end in the Eastern Conference Finals. The team, which had managed to return to three wins everywhere after three initial defeats, finally lost at home to Miami in the seventh game of the final.
