The recognition that Jannik Sinner receives in the tennis circus is increasing. This can also be seen from the fact that the young Sesto can compete on the big stage right at the start of the most important tournament in the world.

Up until this year, it was banned from training on Center Court at Wimbledon. The reason: The sacred lawn should be spared. That tradition was abandoned this year. Because there have been nasty slips in recent editions, especially on the first days of the tournament, the organizers have decided that training can now take place on the Center Court. The turf should be worn out before the first match and thus make it less dangerous.

The first players to enjoy this were Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner. A few days ago, the tournament posted videos in which the Serb and the Sextner tested the green. That’s not all: Sinner is also allowed to play against Juan Manuel Cerundolo on the largest pitch at the start. The organizers announced this on Saturday. Accordingly, the 21-year-old will play the third match on Center Court on Monday, which should start around 6 p.m. Last year, the South Tyrolean had to wait until the round of 16 against Carlos Alcaraz before he was allowed to play in the historic stadium.

In the feasible first round, the greater experience on Center Court will play a role. As an outsider, Cerundolo has never played in the tennis temple. One way or another, Sinner is the big favorite: Francisco Cerundolo’s younger brother has not yet played a single lawn match at ATP level. For this reason alone, a Sinner victory is a must. However, the sextner will not focus too much on the good draw, after all, the French Open recently showed that there are no longer any easy opponents these days.
