The player from Club Badminton A Estrada Iziar Barcala played throughout the weekend the International Badminton U16 of Shonai, in Japan, being one of the two chosen by the national federation to represent Spain in a competition that brought together the best promises of the world. The native of Estrada finished the tournament in 13th place. From the club they highlighted that it was a competition that helped her to gain experience and see how to compete in the Asian country, from which she brings very good feelings.
Iziar Barcala found himself with a tough group in Shonai. The Estrada player crossed paths with a Thai player and two Japanese players, all of them very difficult rivals. In the first match, she faced the Thai Lalita Sattayathadakoon, whom she managed to win the first set 22-20, a set that took a toll on her physically, which meant that she was not able to recover in the following two, with the victory being the thai player
In the next match she faced the Japanese Kaho Ikeda, and after a match with very long points, the victory went to the Japanese by 21/13 21/14.
And in the last match of the table, she faced the also Japanese Sora Hatakeyama, suffering the same fate, with victory for the latter by 21/7 21/14.
Despite everything, the player from Estrada was able to play some good games, with highly disputed points, and to stand up to the Asian players, in a tournament of the highest level. With these results, Iziar fought the next day for ninth place against the American player Nicole Krawczyk, conceding another loss.
The next goal for the player from Estrada will be the European Under-17 Championship to be held in Lithuania from August 4 to 12. Barcala is one of the eleven players chosen by the Spanish National Team for this tournament. With these two international commitments, the native of Estrada culminates a great season at the national level with Badminton A Estrada.
