Italy Wins Bronze in European Championship with 11-7 Victory over Czech Republic

Stefano Burato’s Azzurrini closed the European Championship with the bronze medal, conquered by winning 11-7 in a difficult consolation final against the Czech Republic. He risked in the third, where he conceded a double from Bieth himself before getting out of trouble with two strikeouts.

Felicia was then hit in the arm and two consecutive pass passes put both runners in scoring position, vacated on two wild pitches by Bieth before closing with a strikeout on Zuiver. Germany is not there and goes back to the field change, against Chance with a single by Sulilatu plus a defensive error that leads Blesing to run from second base.

In the bottom of the sixth Javier Chance, with a powerful double down the left line, gives his team a chance to extend the final but the next batter, Felicia, flies a fly ball to right field as Chance gets caught out from the base.

THE TABLE

Italy redeems itself with a bronze medal, obtained by defeating the Czech Republic 11-7 thanks to four runs in the top of the sixth inning, arrived with the services of two pinch-hitters, Ryan Hechavarria and Flavio Casoria , without forgetting a excellent relief game by Leonardo Perracino , who regulates defense and pitch and leaves the Czech lineup just two hits and two bases on balls in 3.2 innings thrown.

Despite a point scored against the departing Kupsky thanks to valid kicks from Pezzullo and Perracino, the start wasn’t the best for Italy which in the lower half made four bad defensive mistakes which forced Mattia Campanini, who started the day, to find himself under 1 -3 and overworked, ending the inning with a strikeout after only seven batters. Unlike the semifinal match, Italy didn’t feel the pinch and immediately tried to come back, shortening in the second inning with successive hits by Campanini, Serse Benelli and Alesandro Barbieri who equalized forcing the Czech Republic to change on the pitch.

The strong Adam Cacek went up to throw, but Italy didn’t get discouraged and took advantage of the emotion of the new substitute by scoring from a passed ball first and then a wild throw.

To unlock the result is first a line by De Pelca in the center-left area, then another wild throw by Cacek who brings Italy down by one point, 6-7, before the strikeouts on Benelli and Barbieri. The game changed face in the upper part of the quarter where Italy managed to recover the gap by equalizing with two outs thanks to a central sprint by Perrucino, who fell for a double, and the decisive single by Gabriele Pucci. In the fifth attack, Italy wasted an important opportunity to move forward. After another excellent recovery by Perracino, ruined only by a dubious referee call on a serve by Major, Italy closes the accounts in the sixth.
