Italian Team Ready to Compete in the European Youth Olympic Festival 2023

The Italian team, made up of 99 blues (47 girls and 52 boys), arrived in the Slovenian city a few days ago to compete in the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF). Until 29 July they will compete with over 2400 athletes aged between 14 and 18 from 48 continental nations.

There are eleven disciplines in the competition with the new Mountain Bike, Skateboard and 3×3 Basketball, the latter discipline without the Azzurri as in the Handball tournament. In the previous edition in Banska Bystrica in summer 2022 Italy had won a total of 47 medals of which 21 gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze.

The Opening ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 23 July, starting at 20.30. The first Azzurri to enter the stadium Ljudski vrt, on the occasion of the parade, will be the standard-bearers Ariadne Gambinicaptain of the volleyball team, e Thomas Brugnamigymnast winner of two medals at the last EYOF.

The 17th European Youth Olympic Festival will be broadcast live from ItalyTeamTVCONI’s OTT platform (see the schedule), after the excellent ratings recorded for the summer edition of Banska Bystrica 2022 and for the winter edition organized last January in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The programs will open with the first rounds of the tennis singles scheduled for tomorrow. (AGC)

Martina De Crescenzo, 16 years old from Giugliano, former Italian champion, is the youngest of the 6,000 participants. A promise of national and European Judo, on which the Italian technicians focus so much.
