In a beautiful atmosphere, the first 10 km of PSG brings together more than 12,000 people

As the expression goes, the Sunday runners had all (or almost) met on the morning of July 2, in the cool morning atmosphere, to participate in the very first foot race organized by PSG.

The latest of the capital club’s many non-football initiatives, of which it can already boast of success: in total, more than 12,000 participants took the start of this 10-kilometre course, wearing black flocked jerseys. in the name of the race (“We run Paris”) on the shoulders.

Inevitably, for its course, PSG has played on its symbols. 10 kilometers which started at the Parc des Princes, on the famous “Who Said I Would” by Phil Collins, skirted the quays of the Seine towards the Eiffel Tower with, all along, banners in the colors of PSG, brass bands, animations and screens giants on which the Rouge & Bleu players encouraged the bravest.

A double Olympic champion won in the women’s category

Once the monument is reached, turn around in the direction of Porte d’Auteuil and arrive at the edge of the lawn of the Reds and Blues, under an arch lined with pyrotechnic devices. An idyllic finish, or almost: the last parties saw their arrival, around 11 a.m., delayed by more than 20 minutes, the entrance leading to the lawn of the Park having been blocked due, according to the testimonies of several runners, a heart attack which led to the intervention of the emergency services. So much for the times.

In men, the first finished the race 29:57. Among the women, in 34:27, it was the double Olympic champion in the 800m Caster Semenya who won. For the others, sporting performance was perhaps not the main motivation, and all of them were above all able to leave with a nice medal and gather around a total club-themed party.

Some former Parisian glories got caught up in the game

And some beautiful guests: while PSG unveiled its new away jersey just before the start of the race, it was already shown on the course by veterans like Marcos Ceará, Valdo, Clément Chantôme, Laurent Fournier, Amara Simba , which mixed with runners of all ages and levels.

A good dose of PSG while waiting for the expected return of the pros to training, and the official start of the new season, in a few days.
