How did the Czechs dominate? Beer relaxed the back, as a reward, a cake!

Kraków (from our correspondent) – The success lifted the mood considerably for both of them. Former World Kayak Champion Tunka did not ride the national team in his main discipline and concentrated on Kayakcross, which clearly paid off.

Přindis, on the other hand, was given a 50-second penalty by the referees in Krakow, he did not make it to the finals in kayak as the reigning world champion. Nevertheless, he leaves with a smile and a medal.

“I have been dealing with back problems since Monday, only today did I feel good on the water. The beer I drank on Saturday to celebrate Jíři (Prskavka)’s medal probably helped,” he laughed.

Both partners were already included in the same quarter-final and advanced side-by-side to the final. Even though Tunka left the water angry already after the first run, thinking that he had been eliminated. But after the disqualification of two opponents, he rushed to the start of the semi-finals again.

“I was really disappointed that the Frenchman pushed me out. But when I got upstairs, they immediately told me to go get the number again. And then it was great,” 32-year-old Tunka rubbed his hands.

The order often changed during the race, but the Czechs were the first to cross the finish line. “It’s still a lottery. Except for the quarterfinals, I had to attack, but instead of attacking, I chose cleverness so as not to fight with them,” Přindiš described the successful tactic. At the same time, the Czechs did not agree on a common strategy. “It’s not even possible to be tactical, you often don’t know where the other person is. But maybe Vítek held me back a bit in the final,” speculated Tunka, and Přindiš confirmed his words.

“I was the fourth one there and we were on the train. If I had followed Ondra, we would have been fighting for the gold unnecessarily, so I sacrificed a little,” explained Přindiš, who was second at the finish line, but then the referees moved him down a position due to a bad crossing of the gate.

Will he receive a reward from his golden friend? “His mother already promised me that she would bake me a cake,” laughed Přindiš.
