The Honduran National Team won the bronze medal after beating El Salvador 2-1 for third place in the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Jonathan Núñez and Exon Arzú were the great figures of the match, since both players endorsed the goals that gave Bicolor the podium in the championship.

The Salvadorans were more in the second half, but the set pieces ended up giving third place to those led by Luis Alvarado.

– Game actions –

The first half was completely from the Honduran National Team. La Bicolor, with Ted Bodden and Jefryn Macías in attack, waited for the defensive error to try to counterattack the Salvadoran goal.

One of the Honduran soccer players who was in danger was Dester Mónico, who shot at the right side of the El Salvador goalkeeper. The Olancho player edged inside and finished off with his left foot, but the goal didn’t come.

Before the end of the first half, the hosts committed a foul on the borders of their area, which Jonathan Núñez took advantage of, who took the ball, shot under the wall and the ball crossed Sibrián’s left side in the 34th minute.

– Complement –

The second half was totally different, the locals came out with a different mentality, took the ball and prepared to attack Edwin Marín’s goal.

The equalizing target came quickly in the plugin (48′). Juan Sánchez amazed the fans who attended the venue, after hanging a violent bomb that slipped into the upper right corner of the catracha goal.

After the Salvadoran goal, Luis Alvarado sent José Domínguez, Moisés Rodríguez and Samuel Elvir onto the field of play, who brought danger to the rival goal.

The last minutes were heart-stopping. Honduras filled its lungs with air, they won another dangerous foul in the rival area and everything indicated that our national team could hit there.

At minute 85, “Pajarito” Aguilera fired with love, with intensity and with a bomb that hit the left post of the Salvadorans. The Cuscatleca defense lost concentration and Exon Arzú gained speed to push the ball that kissed the nets for the second time in the game in favor of “Mini H”.

The referee added five minutes, but everything was said for our nation to hang the fourth bronze medal in the history of soccer at the Central American and Caribbean Games.
