As the Berliners announced on Monday, the 28-year-old will be suspended with immediate effect.
Reason for the suspension: the events at the Hertha training camp in Zell am See (Austria).

Hertha managing director Thomas E. Herrich in an official statement from the club: “Due to the police investigation into our player Marius Gersbeck, we have decided to suspend Marius from team training until further notice. In addition, he left the team hotel without permission.”

Background: As BILD reported exclusively, Marius Gersbeck left the training ground on Saturday evening and apparently met friends from the ultra scene. Later – between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. early Sunday morning – the Hertha keeper then attacked a 22-year-old Austrian on the open road in Zell am See, injuring his head seriously. The victim had to go to the hospital.

Gersbeck left the Berlin training camp on Sunday and will keep fit according to the club.
The Austrian police are investigating Marius Gersbeck for serious bodily harm. The victim has since been released from the hospital.
