The Latvian duo Tīna Laura Graudiņa/Anastasija Samoilova started the “Beach Pro Tour” (BPT) “Elite 16” series tournament with a victory in the Swiss city of Gstaad on Wednesday.
In the first match of the qualification, the sixth-seeded Latvian duo beat the Italian Margherita Biankina/Klaudia Skampoli (11th) 2-0 (21:17, 21:15).
In the decisive match of the qualification at 17:00, Graudiņa and Samoilova will meet the Brazilians Taina Silva Bigi/Viktoria Lopis Pereira Tosta, who are seeded third in the qualification.
In the first stage of the season in Doha, Graudiņa/Samoilova won the fourth place, but then in the Brazilian city of Uberlandia, they took a shared fifth place, but in the last stage in the Czech Republic, they failed to get out of the subgroup, which meant participation in the qualification for this stage.
The tournament in Gstaad will last until Sunday.
