Italy wins gold in the 4×1.5 km relay in open water at the Fukuoka World Championships.

The protagonist, after the silver in the 5 km, is a rediscovered Gregorio Paltrinieri who closes the super work of Barbara Pozzobon, Ginevra Tadeucci and Domenico Acerenza arriving solo in 1h10’31″2. Second place, and silver medal, for the Hungary, followed on the bottom step of the podium by Australia.

“We are very happy, it is the first time that we have won gold at the World Cup. We have won everything and everyone over the years, but we missed this medal and we cared a lot”. These are the words with which Gregorio Paltrinieri commented on the gold medal won by the 4×1.5 km relay at the Fukuoka World Championships on the Federnuoto website. “We were all good – he continues -. The girls kept their position and followed the right routes and trails. Then Acerenza gave me the right change. I had asked Mimmo to let me start first, in the lead, not behind either Hungary or the Germany. He succeeded and I held out. The world championship didn’t start in the right way, without medals and an Olympic pass, but the condition has grown over time. We know how strong we are. We must always try to express it, despite the difficulties, even if objectively the fund project is going very well. This medal is proof of that. We have dreamed many times of winning gold at the World Cup as a team and we finally succeeded”.
