Tennis pro Dominik Koepfer reached the quarterfinals at the ATP tournament in Atlanta. The former world number 50. from Furtwangen in the Black Forest won 2: 6, 7: 6 (7: 3), 6: 4 against Daniel Evans, who was in third place, and thus continued his upward trend. In the first round, Koepfer celebrated his first win of the year on the ATP tour against six-time tournament winner John Isner (USA).
The 29-year-old is the only German at the hard court tournament in the US state of Georgia. Koepfer, a former collegiate player at Tulane University in New Orleans, was down 4-1 in the third set against Evans but fought his way through to the next round with five consecutive wins. In 2022, Koepfer fell far behind in the rankings due to an injury to his left arm, this season he worked his way back into the top 100 and into the main draw at Wimbledon thanks to good results on the second-class Challenger Tour.
