German doubles Krawietz and Pütz in the semifinals

The German Davis Cup doubles Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz reached the semi-finals in Wimbledon. The tennis duo won 6-4, 6-3 against Brit Jamie Murray and New Zealander Michael Venus in London on Wednesday. Krawietz and Pütz have been on the tour together since the beginning of the year.

At the French Open, the doubles had last reached the quarterfinals, now they are in the semifinals together for the first time in a Grand Slam tournament.

The German doubles showed a strong performance against Murray and Venus. After a balanced course, Krawietz and Pütz managed to win the set with the first break. The Davis Cup double took the momentum and managed another break in the second round. After 80 minutes, Krawietz and Pütz converted their third match point.

Aryna Sabalenka is in the women’s semifinals. The 25-year-old from Belarus won her quarter-finals against Madison Keys from the USA 6-2, 6-4 and is in the last four in London like two years ago. Last year Sabalenka was not allowed to play in Wimbledon because of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.
