Verstappen first won ahead of teammate Sergio Pérez, in the second practice Carlos Sainz set the second fastest lap with a Ferrari. He was only 22 thousandths behind the Dutch leader. Alex Albon from Williams surprisingly finished third in both sections.
The seven-time champion and home favorite Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes was only in the second half of the starting field. First he was twelfth and then even fifteen.
On Saturday, qualification will take place from 16:00 CET, on Sunday the race will start at the same time. Verstappen has won seven of the nine Grands Prix this year and leads the world championship standings by a whopping 81 points ahead of Pérez. If he dominates in Silverstone as well, he will dominate the sixth race in a row.
